北京白夜是什么？/ WHAT IS BAI YE?
“
“白夜”也许会让你想起夏至日和漫长的日光，也象征着不断前行的先驱者。“白夜”同时也是一场24小时不间断的城市文化节，已经在全世界从莫斯科到墨尔本等多个城市举行，今年，《觉》将这一文化盛事带到了中国。“北京白夜”将为整整一天的文化艺术创举，挑战所有关于艺术体验的传统。在（鼓楼）区域内、公众和私密的空间界限将被打破，各式各样的艺术机会将喷涌而出。从黎明一直持续到黄昏的展览、柜橱剧院、私密空间表演、还有在街道上进行的互动艺术工作室。只要把门打开，你就会发现无穷尽的可能性。“白夜2013” 将有24场不同的活动构成，有些是无间断的，有些则仅仅持续10分钟。所有活动都将在区域地图上标注出来，仅需步行，只要戴上专有腕带就可以畅通无阻地参加所有活动。

为什么只在一个城市区域内进行？
“北京白夜”希望挑战艺术空间的构成元素，并改变人们对于相遇的认知。通过将艺术家、策展人、展览和表演内嵌到一个城市区域内的私人家庭和空间不大的公共场所中，白夜尝试着去唤醒一种社区意识，并接触到新的观众。
‘Bai Ye’ is a translation of ‘White Night’ – carrying with it associations of long summer days. It is also a champion of sorts – a Knight in Shining Armour, charging forward. White Nights – twenty-four hour civic cultural festivals – have taken place all over the world, from Moscow to Melbourne. This will be the first in China, albeit on a smaller scale. Bai Ye Beijing promises one full day of illuminating cultural interventions, challenging the how, where & when of art experience. In the (Gulou) area district, public & private spaces combine on one platform, bringing a plethora of art opportunities to the community. Dawn to Dusk exhibitions, theater in a box, performances in private spaces and interactive workshops take to the streets. Fling open the doors and find that much is possible outside the white box. Bai Ye 2013 will feature 24 interventions of different kinds, some continuous, some only a fleeting ten minutes. Each will be charted on a map of the district, within walking distance of each other. WHY IS IT ONLY IN ONE CITY DISTRICT?
Beijing Bai Ye hopes to challenge ideas about what can constitute an art space, and the culture of those encounters. By embedding artists, curators, exhibitions and performances within private homes and small public spaces, in one district, Bai Ye seeks to awaken a sense of community and reach new audiences.
